<p>New technology is fun, but there is always a price to it, in addition to the actual monetary cost of upgrading things.  After a little bit of research, I've retired my faithful D80, which felt like a part of me (when you use it regularly).  I had really been looking at a new camera with an improved usability at high ISO, as well as a video capability to experiment with.  After weighing the whole full-frame vs DX (crop sensor) issue, I decided that the D7000 couldn't be beat for the money.</p>
<p>I was also presently surprised, that the additional learning cost was minimal, and that using it was almost exactly like using the D80.  However, now I can shoot at ISO 1600 like it was ISO 200!  I've tried the video capability also, but so far, I'm no Steven Spielberg...</p>]]></content></entry><entry><title>Tooting My Own Horn!</title><category term="Afghanistan"/><category term="Exhibits"/><category term="News"/><category term="Ryerson"/><id>http://www.harris-silver.com/blog/2010/6/25/tooting-my-own-horn.html</id><link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://www.harris-silver.com/blog/2010/6/25/tooting-my-own-horn.html"/><author><name>Harris</name></author><published>2010-06-25T16:00:38Z</published><updated>2010-06-25T16:00:38Z</updated><content type="html" xml:lang="en-CA"><![CDATA[<p>Well, I was pleasantly surprised when one of the photographs that I submitted to the <a class="offsite-link-inline" href="http://ce-online.ryerson.ca/ce_2009-2010/default.aspx?id=2125" target="_blank">2010 Ryerson University Chang School Photography Exhibit</a> was selected to be displayed. &nbsp;I was even more honoured when it was selected by the Jury for the <a class="offsite-link-inline" href="http://www.pikto.ca/" target="_blank">Pikto</a> Award of the show!</p>

<p>The short of it is, these two brothers from the UK created a mobile remote control platform for their camera, which they then use to take pictures of wildlife in Africa, from a very different perspective.</p>
